CBI rules out gang rape in RG Kar case, Sanjay Roy lone accused: Reports

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has ruled out the possibility of gangrape in the death of a Kolkata doctor at RG Kar Hospital last month, NDTV reported. According to sources, evidence suggests only Sanjay Roy, who was previously arrested, is involved in the rape and murder of the doctor. The CBI is in the final stages of its inquiry and will soon file charges.

The agency has sent DNA evidence from the accused for medical review at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. After receiving the doctors' final opinion, the CBI aims to conclude the investigation.

Over 100 statements have been recorded, and 10 polygraph tests have been conducted, including two of former hospital chief Dr. Sandip Ghosh, who was arrested earlier this week. Dr. Ghosh had resigned on moral grounds after the incident but was arrested on suspicion of involvement.

Since his arrest Dr Ghosh has been suspended by the Bengal government and the state doctors' body. He had already been suspended by the Indian Medical Association.
This morning, both CBI and ED has raided Dr. Ghosh's residence in Kolkata.

The CBI is expected to submit a status report to the Calcutta High Court on September 17.
